Kadirur: Kadirur Service Cooperative Bank has launched new farming projects to support local farmers and students. The bank has started payar cultivation and will soon begin “kara nel krishi”(upland farming) in 19 schools under its care as part of the Ithiri Vith Othiri Nell Scheme starting this April.
To promote kara nel krishi(nel krishi on land), the bank is offering free seeds and fertilizers to individuals cultivating on plots less than 25 cents. Those with larger plots (above 25 cents) must apply as a group to receive support.
Additionally, the bank is starting the cultivation of watermelon, moringa, and chendumally to encourage organic farming.
The official launch event was held at Eruvatti Field and was inaugurated by Mr. Karayi Rajan, Chairman of RUBCO. The event was presided over by Bank President Mr. Sreejith Choyan, with special addresses by Shri T. Sudheer, Shri Suresh K, and Shri Vijayan Karai. Mr. P. Suresh Babu welcomed the guests, and Mr. Rajesh Babu delivered the vote of thanks.
